Woolsthorpe Manor is the birth place and home of Sir Isaac Newton and where he had his famous revelation about gravity.
Located between Grantham and Stamford not far off the A1, the house is quite modest in appearance and was built around 1642. The interiors are now decorated as they might have been during the 17th century with replica furnishings. There is also a Science Discovery Centre building with interactive exhibits explaining some of Newtons other discoveries and his inventions.
Outside in the orchard is the original tree from which the apple fell that inspired Newton. It is now 400 years old and is a variety of cooking apple called the flower of Kent.
