Lapworth Museum of Geology is a geological museum at Birmingham University campus in the West Midlands.
Housed in the Grade II listed Aston Webb Building the museum is named after Charles Lapworth, the first Professor of Geology at Birmingham University in the late 1800's. The museum exhibits items from it's collection of around a quarter of a million specimens which mainly consists of fossils, rocks and minerals, but also includes other items such as early geological maps, scientific equipment, photographs, models, archaeological artefacts, zoological specimens and some stone axes. The collection includes fossil specimens from the Midlands area including those of plants, fish, insects and fossilised footprints and from many other worldwide famous fossil locations such as Germany, the USA, Brazil, British Columbia and Italy. Visitors can learn about the geological history of the Earth both globally and regionally and about the work of some of the more import geologists.
