The Kirriemuir Camera Obscura is housed in a purpose built turret inside a cricket pavilion, which was donated to the National Trust for Scotland in 1930 by the author J.M. Barrie.
A Camera Obscura is a way of remotely viewing your surroundings by allowing the light to pass through a small hole and direct the image onto a viewing area in a darkened room. The apparatus allows the viewing of features up to 71 miles away on a clear day.
