Hatchlands Park is a Georgian mansion with gardens and parkland near West Horsley in Surrey.
This National Trust managed property is a Palladian style mansion built in the 1750s for Admiral Edward Boscawen. The interiors feature richly decorated restored rooms, with lots of ornate plasterwork and original features plus important collections of paintings, fine furniture, books and a collection of more than 40 keyboard instruments with connections to famous people. The paintings include works by Gainsborough and Titian and a portrait of William Shakespeare reputedly painted from life. Amongst the musical instruments are harpsichords and pianofortes used by world renowned composers such as Bizet, Chopin and Elgar. Free Cellar tours available on selected days.
The formal gardens and 400 acres of parkland include a Gertrude Jekyll designed parterre garden, the National Garden Scheme's quiet garden, ponds, ancient woodland with 400-year-old oak trees, wild-flower meadows, Wizard Wix’s Willow Warren children's natural adventure play area and five way-marked walks.
