Hailes Abbey is the remains of an abbey dating from the mid 1200's that was once inhabited by Cistercian monks.
An ancient artifact called 'the Holy Blood of Hailes' (supposedly a vial of Christ's blood) was once held here and was consequently a place of pilgrimage for Roman Catholics. There is a museum featuring objects found belonging to the abbey. Free audio tour included in ticket price.
