Charnwood Museum is a local history museum located in Loughborough town centre in Leicestershire.
This indoor attraction, set in Queens Park, has exhibits and displays about the history of the Charnwood area, which is a borough of Northern Leicestershire. There is information about local industries and the social and geological history of the area. Ladybird books also originated in Loughborough and consequently there is an exhibit of Ladybird books, artwork and memorabilia. There are displays of fossils including a Jurassic marine reptile.
Charnwood is also famous for the world's first identification of a pre-camrian fossil, called Charnia named after the borough. The galleries also contain interactive computer displays, audio-visuals presentations and hands-on activites. Amongst the exhibits are information about the 4,000 year old burial of a boy from Cossington and a recreation of a Victorian grocers shop. There are also two temporary exhibition spaces.
